Preschool 4's Program

In the four year old class we utilize a hands on approach to 
teach concepts and skills which will prepare them for their Pre-K or Kindergarten year. 
Throughout the day students participate in both small and large group teacher 
directed learning activities, classroom centers, and structured and free
play time.

Math Skills

Identify Numbers 0-15
Rote Count 1-20
Sort objects by color, size, shape and a variety of other attributes
Identify shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle, crescent, oval, octagon, and diamond)
Complete and create a variety of patterns
Write numbers 0-10

Language Arts

Reading readiness skills (parts of a book, turning pages, reading from left to right)
Begin to Identify the parts of a book-title, cover, author, illustrations
Begin to Identify uppercase and lowercase alphabet letters
Begin to Identify phonemic sounds of alphabet letters
Introduction of literacy concepts through read aloud of children’s books, nursery rhymes, poetry,
 and songs
Exposure to sight words 
Write letters in name using proper formation
Write alphabet letters
Identify rhyming words and opposites

Fine Motor

Use scissors on lines
Holding a pencil with pincer grasp
Drawing simple and then complex lines and figures
Using a variety of arts and crafts materials

Gross  Motor Skills

Throwing, catching and kicking a ball

Hopping, jumping, and skipping
